RCMP Medical Cannabis Coverage: What You Need to Know
Last Updated: February 2026 | Reading Time: 2 minutes
RCMP regular members and special constables are covered for medical cannabis through Medavie Blue Cross, reimbursed under the RCMP’s federal health benefits program. Flora Initiative is registered with Medavie Blue Cross and can direct bill on your behalf — meaning no out-of-pocket cost and no claims paperwork.
If you do not have a medical cannabis authorization, or your current authorization is with a different licensed producer, Flora’s clinical team can help. The same practitioners whose work produced the peer-reviewed CMAPS research conduct virtual assessments across Canada at no cost to you, with authorization typically issued within 3 to 5 business days.
What Flora handles: clinical assessment, medical document registration, Medavie Blue Cross direct billing, and all ongoing supply. You do not coordinate between a clinic and a billing program — we do that.
What you need to get started: your Medavie Blue Cross member ID and a valid provincial health card. If you already have a medical authorization from another provider, we can work with your existing document.
One note on coverage: civilian members of the RCMP are covered under a separate benefits plan administered by Canada Life, not Medavie Blue Cross. Flora’s current billing registration is with Medavie. If you are a civilian member and want to confirm your coverage, contact Canada Life directly before applying.
